General Louis D. Burkhalter, the first president of the Iowa Chapter of the CPCU Society, died July 19, 2007 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was 98 years old. Here is a link to his on line memorial. General Burkhalter was inducted into the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame in 2005. In 2007 the Iowa Chapter of CPCU announced the creation of the Burkhalter Award to be presented annually to recognize people who have made a contribution to the property and casualty insurance industry and their community through civic involvement. |
